We’re teaming up with High Desert Composting and local residents to get free books into the hands of our kids.
As we make our rounds, we’ll collect up gently used English and Spanish language children’s books on any subject to redistribute to pop-up book boxes located around the valley. Throughout the month of August, individuals, businesses and organizations can donate books or sign up to host a distribution point. Book donors may email [email protected] to schedule an exchange, drop books off at the free seed stand located at 210 Ehler Rd in Naches Heights, or deliver books to Mill Creek West (5641 Summitview Ave. ) on August 8, 14 or 15 between the hours of 10AM and 5PM. Book box hosts may email [email protected] to learn more about hosting a free book box or shelf. (For safety, books will be held for a minimum of two weeks before they are shared.)
If you don’t have books to donate but you’d like to help the effort, feel free to collect from your friends and neighbors or at your place of work, or visit Encore Books or Inklings Bookshop to support a local business owner, too.
P.S. Books and seeds foster growth for all ages! We’ve got free garden seeds to share, too, as part of our Cooperative Gardens Program. If you’re hosting, please consider including a seed section in your free stand. :) If you need seeds for your own garden, visit our roadside stand at 210 Ehler Rd in Naches Heights.
