Here are six local floral businesses that offer a range of products, events and opportunities. Follow along on your socials, mark your calendars and consider supporting our area growers!
1) Swan Seed Company, White Swan
An enterprise of Swan Vocational Enterprises, this seed and bulb farm has a mission to equip young adults with the skills, abilities, and capacities to succeed in life and work.
“Swan Seed Co. was created in hopes of being a training grounds and a feeder program into our rich agricultural economy. We hope to use this as a platform to connect young adults in the community to other agribusinesses in our area. In the early years Swan Seed Co. was building inventory as a working flower farm. Now we grow for seed, bulb, and tuber collection. We have on-site u-cut events to offset operating costs.”
2) Louloudia Gardens, Yakima
Monthly and quarterly subscriptions, Mother’s Day bouquets, dahlia tubers.
“Louloudia is the Greek word for flower and a nod to the many powerhouse women in my family. Now I get to share my love for growing flowers with my three girls and all of you.We grow the freshest unique blooms, that are ‘grown not flown’ so you get local flowers that are usually cut the day you receive them. We use regenerative no-till, organic methods without pesticides and fertilizers.”
3) Canyon Blooms, Yakima
A 501-3 that offers bouquet subscriptions and volunteer opportunities.
“100% of the profits of our flower sales go to go to providing farm-fresh flowers to those in hospice, long-term nursing care facilities, women’s shelters, and other areas of need. ‘Flowers are a universal message of kindness. And the world needs more kindness right now.'”
4) Stemmed Flower Farm, Yakima
A “mother-daughter duo chasing babies and dreams and trying to make the world a more beautiful place. We love how with just a little vision and some nice hard work you can turn empty land into something as beautiful as a thriving flower farm! Come follow along as we start a flower farm from scratch!”
Offers bouquet subscriptions, u-pick events and photo opportunities.
5) Shrubsteppe Blooms, Yakima
Offers on-site bouquet stand + DIY flower buckets for those who prefer to do their own arranging.
Shrubsteepe Blooms aims to “bring light and joy to our community through cut flowers. provide nursery stock of native plants to our community in Central Washington [using] low-input practices that minimize waste and promote ecosystem health.”
6) Wyld Heather Farm, Yakima
Monthly bouquets, on site bouquet stand, dahlia tubers.
“We work the earth with our hands to produce beautiful, robust blooms that inspire joy for each one of our valued customers. We offer a variety of services and products: bouquet subscriptions, hand-tied bouquets, spring seedling sale, wholesale and more. Our flowers are produced out of techniques that ensure the earth is well cared for by incorporating natural solutions such as low till farming, soil-blocking and growing native plants to encourage beneficial insects & pollinators.”
