Altai Dragonhead

Description

Can be found growing naturally on mountainsides and rocky scree in China, where it has been used for centuries to make tea. We love it for its heart-shaped leaves and deep purple-blue blooms. Excellent drainage is essential. It won’t overwinter in a wet place. Ideal for the front of a sunny border, the rock garden, or in containers. Forms a bushy tuft or mound of narrow blue-green leaves, bearing spikes of fat, tubular violet-blue flowers from early summer onwards.
